The Duck boat -- Boston

The Duck boats are really cool tours that drive you through the city and then right into the river! This was by far every ones favorite thing of the day. Each Duck boat is painted differently and has its own theme. Daniel & Craig were thrilled that we got a baseball boat. Nathan was excited that it was named after him. Our boat was named the Red Socks Nathan (I believe a play on Red Socks Nation). Our tour guide/driver was a big red socks fan. I guess the Duck boat had been christen in Fenway Park at the beginning of 2004. They then went on to win the world series that year. The Red Socks all feel the the boat was their good luck charm. Our tour guide was married later that year on the river in that boat. Then his wedding reception was in Fenway Park and they toasted over the World Champion Trophy. He had picture to prove it! I was impressed.

As a side note...Craig's favorite thing of the day was driving past Fenway Park while a game was being played and they were tied. The Red Socks later won. He told me it would have been the perfect game to go to. Someday we will have to fulfil his dream.

The Capital Building and a cool bridge. These are about the only city pictures that turned out.

Most looked like this...
This is a picture Dave took of the building where they stepped out onto the balcony and first read the Declaration of Independence. Each year someone steps out onto the balcony and reads it. Are you impressed with the picture? Hahaha One day we will have to walk the freedom trail and get better picture.

It was actually a very beautiful drive through the city and really informative. I loved seeing all of these places that I have learned about in history. Our driver was Pretty funny and the time just flew by (the tour was about 90 to 100 minutes long). We were a rowdy group and when the driver yelled, "who let the ducks out?" we all yelled back, "Quack, Quack, Quack, Quack" to the tune. People on the street would quack at us passing by and we would all quack back "who let the ducks out". It was really fun.

Here is where the trip became worth a 5 hour wait. We are in the river!
With the wind in our hair we enjoyed an awesome boat ride with incredible views of the city!

We were surprised when half way through the boat tour the driver called Craig up and had him drive the boat. He was steering and shifting gears and everything. After about 10 minutes he let Craig go back to his seat and had Nathan come up and drive. They were so excited! They were the only two kids on the boat that got to drive it. It was such a neat experience to watch. They can now always say that their first time driving a boat is on a Duck boat in Boston.

What an amazing view of the city. I think it looks like a postcard.

My 35th birthday will always be filled with wonderful memories. This was the perfect day!

Wow! so much fun. And getting a boat that fit all criteria -- named after Nathan, and a baseball boat. What more could you ask for??? The city looks beautiful. I especially like Dave's photo of the bricks. But really, it looks like the perfect day. Congrats!
